Library Code of Conduct
Midlands Technical College Library Code of Conduct
The Midlands Technical College library serves the
MTC community by providing access to high quality services and
collections. We strive to provide a pleasant environment that is
conducive to study and research supporting the academic goals of
the college. Students are expected adhere to the MTC Student Code
as published in the MTC Student Handbook.
In order to meet these goals patrons are
requested to refrain from the following activities:
Improper use of Library facilities and/or
resources (includes but is not limited to):
- Mutilating library materials by marking,
underlining, removing pages or portions of pages, removing binding,
removing electronic theft devices, using post-its and paper clips
or in any other way damaging or defacing library materials.
- Theft of library materials
- Eating or drinking in the Library
- Using Library computing facilities for purposes
not related to research or study, including, email, online
chatting, and accessing inappropriate web sites (Link to computer
usage policy)
- Smoking or using tobacco in Library
- Failing to adhere to copyright laws, including
systematically downloading, printing, or disseminating content from
MTC-licensed electronic resources in violation of copyright
laws.
Any disturbance that disrupts research or study
or interferes with normal use of a library (includes but is not
limited to):
- Noise, rowdiness, and offensive behavior
- Conversation in areas other than designated
group study areas. We do not object to reasonable conversations
between students or between students and staff members when
conducting business.
- Harassment of Library staff or patrons
- Use of cell phones
- Unaccompanied children
Students violating this code will be referred to
the Director of Campus Life.
